DESCRIPTION OF HUNTS

Hula Hoop Arena (no registration required)

This event will open as soon as we can get it set up Friday afternoon and will basically stay open until we close down Saturday afternoon. Anyone may participate, even if you are not in any of the regular hunts. We have an area staked out that has been seeded with wheat and indian head pennies, silver coins and numbered tokens. For $1 you have a chance to find these targets by casting a hula hoop anywhere into the area. Using your detector, you search the area within the hoop for a target. You may only dig one target per hoop. Any coins found are yours to keep. If you find a token, you will win a prize from the hula hoop prize board, including silver coins, silver rounds, gold coins, detecting accessories and even a new metal detector. The number on your token will determine which prize you win.

Relay Hunt (included in hunt package)

This is a "fun" hunt that is for all registered hunters. It is scheduled to occur Friday evening at 6:30. Hunters will have a numbered ID badge that will determine which "team" they will be on. The hunt area is well-seeded with colored tokens. This is a relay hunt, so on the word "go" each team will send in one member to try to find and retrieve a token. After finding a token or feeling like they are wasting too much time, they rush back to the team line and the next team member goes into the hunt. Hunt officials will be present to verify token counts and the first team to retrieve the required number of designated tokens is declared the winner. All members of the winning team will win a prize.

WINGO Fun Hunt (included in hunt package)

The final event on Friday night, the WINGO is a hunt for wheat pennies, silver dimes and numbered tokens. What's special about this hunt is that it is at night and lights are not allowed on the hunt field. This means that your pinpointing skills are very important in quickly finding and retrieving your targets. The faster you are, the more targets you retrieve and the more likely you will be to find the tokens that give you a chance to win a prize. The coins and tokens are scattered on the surface of the ground (not buried). When a token is found you may immediately take it to the hunt official who will register the token with your name in the order he receives them. Or you may hold on to your tokens and turn them in later in the hunt. The advantage of turning them in early is made clear in the next phase. Once time is called, the hunt master begins going down the list of registered tokens found and marks them off on the WINGO game board (seen below) in the order they were turned in to him in the field. When all five numbers in a row, a column or a diagonal have been marked off we have a WINGO and the finders of those token numbers will each receive a prize.

The "21" Hunt (included in hunt package)

Scheduled for Saturday morning at 8:00. The hunt field will be seeded with wheat pennies and numbered tokens. When the numbers on the tokens you find total 21 you turn them in to the huntmaster and redeem them for silver half dollars.

Find The Bills Hunt (included in hunt package)

Scheduled for Saturday morning at 9:00 In this hunt field we have planted 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 dollar bills wrapped around a penny and taped up in plastic. You get to keep all the money you find.

Silver Bonanza Hunt (additional registration required on entry form)

Scheduled for Saturday morning at 10:15. You pay extra to participate in this hunt but it can be well worth it. The field is seeded with large silver targets and you keep all the silver rounds, silver dollars, silver halves, silver bars and any other silver you may find. With silver currently over $20 an ounce, 4 or 5 targets found could be worth more than your registration fee.

Relic Hunt (additional registration required on entry form)

Scheduled for Saturday morning at 11:30. In this hunt we will have planted miscellaneous Civil War items, pre-1930 coins and other metal relics from times gone by.

Main Hunt (included in hunt package)

Scheduled for 1:30 after our lunch break on Saturday. This is our largest hunt and takes place on a truly huge field. The field will be seeded with plenty of old silver coins, Indian head pennies and hunt tokens. The coins are all yours to keep and the tokens may be redeemed for many silver rounds, coins and other prizes including several great metal detectors with at least 3 top-of-the-line models, as well as many other treasure hunting accessories to be won.
